WFTGA ExBo Visit Bali Indonesia:
27 May-33rd of June, 2008:

WFTGA President, Rosalind Newlands, Vice President Aladdin Khalifa and ExBo Member Johnny Lee visited Bali and  West Sumatra Indonesia  From 27th May-3rd of June as guests of the Indonesian Tourism Authority and the Indonesian Tourist Guides Association.

We were able to inspect the Convention Hotel - the Discovery Kartika at Kuta Beach, Denpasar Bali and other venues

As well as meet the Convention team led by I Nyoman Kandia and some of the sponsors.

Our keynote speakers and workshops on the theme Ecotourism the Tourist Guides Role are now secured.For relaxation the hotel has a swimming pool, spa, tennis and squash courts and is next door to a large shopping centre and about 15 minutes walk from the main shops in Denpasar. It is going to be a great Convention - don''t miss it!

We were particularly privileged to meet and gain the support of the Governor of Bali and the Mayor of Denpasar as well as the DMC and other local business supporters.

WFTGA exbo attended  as well the  First Congress of Southeast Asia of Tourist Guide Associations to be held from 30 May - 02 June 2008, in Padang - West Sumatera

The Regional Congress of SEATGA provides unparalleled opportunities for delegate (Country Representatives) and individual guides to exchange views and information. It allows the participants to share experiences, compare ways of working and consult on the solution towards problems and challenges. It offers the possibility of creating new contacts. During the Regional Congress, lectures and workshops on a wide variety of subject are held, addressing the needs and demands of members to improve their guiding skills and increase their changing needs on the industry worldwide.

 

 

WFTGA President Plants WFTGA Trees for Ecotoursm During the South East Asia Tourist Guides Association in Sumatra,

 WFTGA President Rosalind Newlands planted mahogany trees as part of a local drive to encourage ecotourism in the region.
