2007 Tyrol (Austria)

The free guided tours of the licensed Tyrolean tourist guides on the World Tourist Guide Day 2007 took place on February 23rd, because Friday is a convenient day for attending guided tours. In 7 cities - including the Tyrolean capital Innsbruck - 25 special tours were offered. Each one was different and covered topics as old music, modern architecture, skiing, artists, salt trade, bell casting and many more. 500 participants followed
25 guides and donated 1100,- euro for the aid foundation "People for People" ("Menschen fuer Menschen") which is supporting developing projects in Ethiopia. In the center of the historic Old Town of Innsbruck all day long was an information desk where people could pick up brochures about the profession of tourist guiding and could drink a glow wine with guides and chat with them.
