You’ll journey into the heart of Kumamoto and step back into the Edo period to experience the refined arts and military might of old Japan.
To provide a smooth experience at these heritage sites, the coaches will visit the sites below at different times but everyone will get to enjoy:
・Yachiyo-za Theater: A grand, wooden playhouse built in 1910 that features a stunning ceiling of vintage advertisements and a sacred stage where you will witness the graceful Yamaga Lantern Dance.
・Buzen Kaido Street: A beautifully preserved historic trade route lined with traditional merchant houses, sake breweries, and craft shops that capture the atmosphere of ancient Japan.
・Kikusui-no-sato: A welcoming roadside rest area and restaurant where you will enjoy a regional lunch featuring the fresh, seasonal ingredients of the Kumamoto countryside.
・Kumamoto Castle: One of Japan’s most impressive and formidable fortresses, world-famous for its massive black exterior and its steep “warrior-repelling” stone walls.
・Josaien Market: A vibrant reconstruction of an Edo-period castle town located at the foot of the fortress
・Lunch at Kikusui no Sato
・Dinner at Ark Hotel: A comfortable city hotel located right next to the castle grounds, where you will conclude your day with a traditional group dinner.
Everyone will be dropped off directly at their hotel for the night.
