The Shinkansen Experience

On your return journey, you will experience the world-famous Shinkansen (Bullet Train) from Kagoshima-Chuo to Hakata Station (Fukuoka). You will go together with your guide, receive the tickets from them and just sit back and enjoy the 1.5h journey.
Upon arrival back in Fukuoka, your guide will lead you to the subway for an easy connection back to your hotel.

To ensure a seamless journey, please keep the following in mind:

• ⏰ Punctuality is Key: The Shinkansen runs on a second-by-second schedule. Please follow your guide’s instructions exactly to ensure everyone boards on time.

• 🚪Making an Exit: When your station is announced, please prepare to disembark immediately. The train stops only briefly; there is no time to go back for forgotten items, so double-check the overhead racks and seat pockets before doors open.

• Onboard Etiquette:
  • 🥗🍻 Eating and drinking: are encouraged (it’s part of the fun!), so feel free to buy some refreshments in the station.
  • 📵 Phone calls and singing are strictly prohibited in the seating area; if you must take a call, please move to the “deck” area between cars. Please also keep conversations quiet.
  • ️ 🗑️ Trash: There’re trash bins between cars. Please take your trash with you and throw it away.

• 🚻 Facilities: You will find clean, comfortable restrooms located between the train cars.

• 🛜 Connectivity: While free Wi-Fi is available, it requires a web login and can be quite “spotty” through tunnels. It is best not to rely on it for urgent tasks.

• 💺 Group Seating: If you are traveling in a group, you can actually rotate the entire row of seats to face each other. Simply pull/step on the pedal at the base of the aisle seat!

• ‼️ Mind the Gap: Be careful when stepping onto and off the train, as there can be a small gap between the platform and the carriage.
