Overview: Takachiho – Birthplace of Japanese Myth

This day’s journey explores the “Cradle of Japanese Mythology.” You will travel through breathtaking volcanic landscapes to reach the sites where Japan’s oldest legends are said to have taken place. To ensure everyone has a relaxed and intimate experience at these sacred sites, the group will divide after lunch:

To provide a smooth experience at these heritage sites, the coaches will visit the sites below at different times but everyone will get to enjoy:

Lunch in Minami Aso: A breathtakingly lush valley situated inside one of the world’s largest volcanic craters, famous for its emerald pastures and crystal-clear spring water.

Takachiho Shrine: A peaceful sanctuary nestled among 800-year-old cedar trees where you will witness Kagura, an ancient and sacred masked dance.

Amanoiwato Shrine: A revered site built along a river gorge to honor the legendary cave where the Sun Goddess is said to have once hidden from the world.

Amanoyasukawara: A mystical riverside cavern filled with thousands of tiny stone towers stacked by pilgrims to mark the spot where the gods once gathered.

Lunch: Takamori Dengakumura

Dinner is not included on this day.
