Next Steps Following the Bidder Presentations
03:42 10th Feb 2026

Dear Participants,

What inspiring presentations we enjoyed yesterday – the visual material shared by the bidders truly brought their visions to life. Thank you all for your engagement and the many thoughtful follow-up questions we have since received.

We would therefore like to clarify the next steps in the process.

Decision-Making Process

The final decision will be taken by the Delegates on Thursday through a formal vote. Each member country is entitled to one vote.

Documentation for Review

To support an informed decision, we have prepared:

  • a consolidated Bidder 2028 Comparison Documentfor the Delegates, and
  • a Comparison App, which allows users to review and compare both the bidders and the Executive Board (ExBo) candidates in a structured and transparent way.

We are now pleased to extend access to these materials to all Participants, so that you may review them and discuss any questions or impressions with your respective Delegates.

Important Change in Procedure

Please note that the procedure has been adjusted. Until now, the host organisation was also responsible for organising the main Convention. Going forward, this responsibility will lie with the WFTGA itself.

This change allows the host to focus more strongly on the pre- and post-conference programmes, while the WFTGA ensures continuity and consistency of the main Convention.

Accordingly, proposed conference dates, themes and speaker suggestions are considered as proposals only. Final decisions rest with the WFTGA Organising Committee.

Key Evaluation Criteria

Most importantly, this bid is not solely about the presentation. The presentation accounts for 20 out of 100 points in the overall evaluation.

Greater weight is given to questions such as:

  • What impact can the WFTGA have in the bidder’s destination?
  • Can the Convention contribute to training new guides, developing new products, or establishing sustainable partnerships?
  • How realistically and honestly have bidders assessed their current situation?
  • What capacities and long-term potential do they demonstrate?

All these elements are taken into account in the evaluation process. The full evaluation framework is available for your reference (Tab Voting process).

Kind regards,

Sebastian Frankenberger
President of WFTGA

P.S.:
If you are also interested in the candidates for the Executive Board, you will find all relevant information in the Comparison App as well. Thank you once again for your active participation and your commitment to a transparent and meaningful decision-making process.
