Arrival in Fukuoka

Arrive at Fukuoka International Airport and be greeted by our welcoming team.

Transfer to your hotel in Fukuoka, where you can relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Kagoshima: Life with an Active Volcano

We’ll journey south to Kagoshima, in the very south of Kyushu. A city that beautifully coexists with the powerful presence of an active volcano, Sakurajima

Discover how local life thrives alongside this magnificent natural force, exploring the unique relationship between the people and their fiery neighbor. Immerse yourself in the profound worship of nature that permeates this stunning region, perhaps even witnessing Sakurajima’s plumes of ash from a safe distance, a testament to its constant, breathing power.

Saturday - 7th February
Kyushu's Countryside: Enduring Craft, Artisinal Masters and Waterways

Step back in time on a captivating day tour through the heart of Kyushu, exploring rich history, natural beauty, and traditional craftsmanship.

Yamaga City is a place where you’ll be transported to the Meiji era at the magnificent Yachiyoza Theatre a beautifully preserved Kabuki theater, feeling the echoes of performances past.

We’ll also journey to Izumi, dedicated to the preservation of thousands of migrating cranes local to the area. Then, delve into Japan’s feudal past with a visit to well-preserved Samurai Residences, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of these legendary warriors.

Sunday - 8th February
Kumamoto: A Story of Feudal Fortunes to Tranquil Beauty

Make your journey to Kumamoto city, a place that embodies remarkable resilience and history.

Here, you’ll witness firsthand the incredible dedication of local craftsmen as they meticulously use traditional methods to reconstruct Kumamoto Castle, a cherished symbol tragically damaged by the 2016 earthquake. Marvel at their skill and the enduring spirit of preservation.

Step into a living masterpiece at Suizenji Jōju-en Garden in Kumamoto, a breathtaking example of traditional Japanese landscape design. This meticulously crafted Edo-period garden miniaturizes the 53 stations of the historic Tōkaidō road, including an iconic Mount Fuji replica. Stroll along tranquil paths, past serene ponds stocked with vibrant koi, and discover charming tea houses where you can pause and soak in the timeless beauty. Suizenji offers a peaceful escape, inviting you to experience Japan’s rich cultural heritage and artistic spirit.

Pre Convention Programme for Delegates

Delegates and their accompanying persons will leave the pre-programme after lunch on day 2 (Saturday 07 February) and return to Fukuoka.

Delegates will attend the General Assembly on Sunday 08 February, whilst a special cultural programme has been arranged for their accompanying persons in Fukuoka.

Highlights and Programme Features:

  • Two-day cultural experience in Takachiho and Aso
  • Expert-guided tours in English on both days
  • Half-day programme for accompanying persons on Sunday 08 February to align with the General Assembly schedule

  • February 5: 1 night at an official hotel in Fukuoka

  • February 6: 1 night at a selected hotel in Aso
