“Shared vision for a better world ~ We want a world that is better, fairer and more sustainable. A world that can be enjoyed today and protected for future generations. The Sustainable Development Goals SDGs) represent a shared vision for peace and prosperity, for people and the planet. Every SDG is a call for action, but we can only get there if we work together. International standards offer practical solutions we can all stand behind. By using international standards, you become part of the solution. “

World or International Standards Day is celebrated internationally each year on 14 October. The day honours the efforts of thousands of experts – among them many tourist guides and WFTGA members – who develop voluntary standards within standards development organisations such as the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN).

WFTGA celebrates two standards, which define the profession of tourist guides and underpin professional training programmes for tourist guides. Additionally, a new standard published in May 2021 is guiding tourism key players through the time of the pandemic.
