Mission and Vission
  1. Vision: To be the global voice of excellence in professional tourist guiding, inspiring cultural exchange, safeguarding heritage, and connecting communities through the power of guided experiences.
  2. Mission: The mission of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) is to advance the guiding profession globally through structured support for both individual tourist guides and tourist guide associations. The Federation promotes quality, solidarity, and ethical responsibility in tourism.
  3. To fulfil this mission, the Federation shall:
    1. Strengthen the Profession 
      1. Empower guides through access to training, certification, and professional development 
      2. Provide tools and platforms for self-promotion and professional visibility 
      3. Promote high standards of practice rooted in responsibility, authenticity, and skill
    2. Support Associations 
      1. Assist with the creation, growth, and leadership of tourist guide associations 
      2. Provide resources and guidance for effective association management 
      3. Encourage cooperation and exchange between member organisations and their respective members
    3. Advocacy and Representation 
      1. Advocate for the recognition of tourist guiding as a skilled profession in tourism policy and industry 
      2. Represent guides in international tourism fora and policy discussions
      3. Promote ethical and inclusive tourism practices industry-wide
    4. Capacity Building and Community Engagement 
      1. Organise international conventions, meetings, and workshops for member engagement
      2. Support innovation and knowledge exchange through networks and partnerships 
      3. Encourage adaptation and resilience in a changing global tourism environment
    5. Ethical Foundation 
      1. Uphold the values of truthfulness, transparency, and respect for universal human rights
      2. Actively counter disinformation, propaganda, and hate speech in all forms 
      3. Promote intercultural understanding, dignity, and responsibility within tourism 
      4. Require all members to adhere / commit / promote to the WFTGA Code of Guiding Practice
