What is it about?
Tourist guides play a crucial role in shaping the image and experience of a destination. As the tourism sector evolves, especially with the rapid growth of the Muslim travel market, it is increasingly important to ensure that tourist guides are well-educated and trained to meet the specific needs of Muslim travellers.
This CPD Course provides tourist guides with a comprehensive understanding of Halal tourism, a sector that encompasses much more than just food. It covers all aspects of travel that align with Islamic principles, including worship facilities, cultural sensitivities, and hospitality standards that respect religious values.
This course was developed by NT Ivana Karanikić in response to a recognised need in the Balkan region. Her vision focused on providing interactive, meaningful, and respectful experiences for Muslim visitors, enhancing the overall travel experience through empathy and awareness.
This 10-day Halal Tourist Guide CPD Course is endorsed by WFTGA. The programme follows international standards, and incorporates elements of EN15565 and other relevant ISO and CEN guidelines.

Day 1 – Course Introduction & Halal Tourism Foundations
Day 2 – Islam & Cultural Awareness
Day 3 – Islamic Monuments & Halal Innovation
Day 4 – Communication Skills
Days 5-6-7 – Field Practicals
Day 8 – Designing Halal Tours
Day 9 – Study Day
Day 10 – Final Assessment
- Evaluation through a written test and practical assessment
Beyond Guiding: A Broader Perspective
This course is more than just about guiding tourists. It offers in-depth knowledge of the Muslim world, heritage, and mindset. Upon completion, participants will be equipped not only to offer historical and cultural insights but also to cater to the specific dietary and religious needs of Muslim travellers. The course could be delivered in a hybrid format.

The course is designed and delivered by an experienced team of WFTGA Trainers:

Each session is led by two trainers, ensuring diverse expertise and interactive facilitation.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate endorsed by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA), affirming their competency in Halal tourist guiding in line with international standards.
