Inclusive city tours by telephone – German project seeks German-speaking guides worldwide

Dear tourist guides, dear WFTGA members,

We would like to introduce you to a successful, inclusive project from Germany – and hope that you will be enthusiastic about participating.

The idea is as simple as it is effective:
Audio-descriptive city tours by telephone are aimed at people for whom travelling poses (major) challenges, e.g. because they are blind or visually impaired, do not feel comfortable in large groups, have limited mobility or simply cannot afford to travel. The tours take place live and are free of charge for participants.
Now it’s your turn!

“Bei Anruf Kultur” – (Culture at a phone call) looking for German-speaking tourist guides worldwide

The “Bei Anruf Kultur” project, based in Hamburg, is currently looking for German-speaking tour guides from all over the world who would like to offer one-hour city tours of their city or region by telephone – specifically for a blind audience (as the tours take place only by telephone without visual support) in German-speaking countries.

Procedure:
• Duration: approx. 60 minutes
• Language: German
• Medium: conference call via a German landline number, controlled by a moderator
• Target group: German-speaking people between the ages of 40 and 99

Remuneration:
• by individual agreement per tour, invoiced
What is planned?
• An international summer programme in 2026, with city tours from around the world
• Additional monthly tours with international colleagues

Interested? Here’s how it works:
Send an email to: kontakt@beianrufkultur.de
CC Sarah from the WFTGA: sarah@wftga.org

Please include the following information in your email:
• Your full name
• The city or region where you offer tours
• A brief description of your general and special tours
• Whether you can make calls to German landlines free of charge or as part of your telephone tariff
• Whether you already have experience with blind/visually impaired guests or with audio description
• What technical equipment (telephone, headset, etc.) you use

Let’s work together to make the world more accessible – with your voice, your stories and your city/region.

Kind regards
