We would like to inform our members and partners of an important update regarding the current bidding round for a future WFTGA Convention. We received several expressions of interest, and the deadline for submitting all required documents was yesterday. Unfortunately, only one bidder provided the full set of documents; however, this bid did not meet the eligibility requirements defined for this round.
In line with the WFTGA Bidding Guidelines, the Executive Board has therefore agreed to reopen the bidding process. This new round will be entirely fresh, and—unlike before—all continents are now eligible to submit a bid, including Europe and Asia.
We strongly encourage all interested associations and partners to consult our comprehensive bidding materials, including the recorded webinar. The bidding process has been redesigned from the ground up and now follows a fully updated, streamlined structure.
The new system significantly reduces the administrative workload for hosts, as the WFTGA will assume overall management and financial responsibility for the Convention. At the same time, hosting offers substantial new opportunities: each bid includes an intensive training component and a tour development programme, bringing long-term value to the local guiding community.
The selection procedure for delegates has also evolved. It now follows an assessment-centre-style approach, placing strong emphasis on the impact of the Convention on local Tourist Guides, sustainability, and professional development.
New Bidding Timeline
- Deadline for submitting all bidding documents: 15 December, 12:00 CET
- Evaluation by the Bidding Committee completed by: 23 December
- Announcement of the official bidders: Before Christmas
We look forward to receiving strong and inspiring bids and to working together with future hosts to shape an impactful and forward-looking WFTGA Convention.
