Sokyo Shimura

After graduating from Kyushu University, a short-term study abroad in the UK ignited my passion for cherishing my own culture. Upon returning to Japan, I obtained my certification in conducting traditional tea ceremonies and have since been awarded with a senior teaching license (kyōju). To foster international exchange, I have hosted numerous tea ceremonies overseas, including in Europe and Asia, and have provided tea ceremony instruction to international students in Fukuoka for over 20 year. I’ve also been active for two decades as an advisor for the Kyushu Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association. My life's work is dedicated to achieving world peace through the practice and philosophy of the tea ceremony.
