Vox Group is pleased to share an update with the international guiding community on the launch of Vox Aura, the new AI-powered device that delivers real-time multilingual commentary during guided tours. The system was introduced at WTM London 2025 and is currently in final trials with key partners worldwide. The wider rollout is anticipated for mid-summer 2026, including to organisations that work closely with professional tourist guides.
Vox Aura has been designed to support guides in their work, not to replace their expertise. It gives guides a practical way to welcome guests who speak different languages. The guide continues to lead the group, set the tone, manage the experience and share their knowledge. Aura simply provides clear, immediate translation into the guest’s chosen language through a standard Vox radio receiver.
For many guides, this creates new opportunities.
- Guides can accept bookings they would previously turn down because of language limitations.
- Mixed-language groups can be combined into one tour, allowing guides to work efficiently without losing the quality of personal engagement.
- Smaller groups that speak less-common languages can now join mainstream departures instead of being declined due to low numbers.
- Guides who specialise in niche themes or academic subjects can reach a wider audience without needing to master several foreign languages.
The device works without phones, apps or roaming, and integrates fully with the Vox radios already familiar to guides around the world. The guide simply speaks as usual, and Aura provides translations instantly in a choice of more than 50 languages.
Elio Epifani, Founder of Vox Group, said: “Tourist guides remain at the heart of every memorable experience. Aura has been created to strengthen their role by giving them more flexibility, more reach and more ways to connect with visitors.”
Built in Italy and developed with input from guides and operators, Vox Aura uses contextual AI that recognises place names, historical references and terminology specific to tours. Translations are delivered in real time, with no data storage or recording of guide commentary, and full GDPR compliance.
Vox Group values its long relationship with WFTGA as its technical partner and continues to see professional guides as essential partners in shaping the next generation of cultural storytelling.
