A letter from the President
As President, I am delighted, as the entire board is composed of people whom I have worked with over the past years. We will put all our efforts into accomplishing quite a bit for you, our members!Ruby Roy, “your old and new WFTGA President”, 2005
One of the fundamental reasons the WFTGA was founded was to combat unqualified guiding worldwide. The WFTGA succeeded in having the Amateurguides.com website removed, as it promoted unqualified guides. After discussions in which things were explained clearly, the webmaster decided to start another website, this time working with the WFTGA.
The President’s circular also announced news of the June 2005 training project in Cyprus and the outlook for the 2007 Cairo convention, and invited associations to send reports on their activities for International Tourist Guide Day on 21 February 2005, so that others might study their programmes and get new ideas. These reports were published on wftga.org and in the electronic newspaper “Guidelines Internation@l”.
