Speak Clearly, Lead Confidently: Accent Training for Tourist Guides
WFTGA recently hosted a fun and eye-opening session on accent improvement for Japanese tourist guides. The class was led by Jessica Campbell, an American accent and speech coach known for helping English learners sound more natural and confident.
During the one-hour workshop, Jessica shared practical tips on how to speak smoothly, clearly, and with confidence when guiding international guests. Having a clearer, more neutral accent can dramatically boost a tourist guide’s income and confidence. When guests understand you easily, they engage more — and that often leads to better reviews and bigger tips.
What makes Jessica Campbell stand out is her unique background – she specializes in training tourist guides and tour directors. With over 20 years of experience leading tours across Europe, the U.S., and Canada, Jessica brings an insider’s understanding of the communication challenges guides face every day.

Jessica holds a B.A. from Boston University (cum laude) and a 120-hour TESOL Certificate in ESL. She’s a patient, experienced teacher who understands how to help speakers develop a more fluid rhythm, intonation, and flow in English.
